Challenge

One Ocean Hub's brand was in need of a refresh and so along with hiring Wholegrain Digital to redesign their website - they hired Topsy Corian Design to spruce up their logo, create branded assets such as social media templates and brand guidelines.

The challenge was that One Ocean Hub is an organisation that spreads over several continents and was struggling to present a united international visual identity.
Fortunately they already had a beautiful collection of raw ink illustrations and textures created by the Hub's own co-director Dr Dylan McGarry, which were inspired by ocean life and the spirituality that surrounds it - specifically in South Africa.

One particular illustration was of a whale shark - which seemed more representative of the organisation than the original sea urchin, so we used the whale as the conceptual base for the branding.
